Cinelli B

I'm going to look at this bike on the weekend. All I have is these pics but I do know it's had the drive train swapped out but he kept the campy record hubs and derailleur. I've seen assessments for complete "B"s in the 1200 to 1500 range but what might a fair price be for this one as-is?

thanks

Hrmmm, it looks to be the original paint and in great shape, I wouldn't sell it for less than $2K myself but I am in a busy market, Toronto.

photo of complete machine too small a format to tell very much.

appreciate they are prolly seller's pictures.

brass headplate a plus and an aid to dating. there was a period in the sixties when b's came with nt hubs, t.a. trois attaches chainsets and universal 61 brakes.

Depending on the market area or bidders on Ebay. $2000 to $3000. In the Windy City, pretty tough to sell over $1000 on CL.

Thanks for the input...will have a thorough look-see tomorrow. It does have a TA chainset.

the bicycle's livery is one thing which may contribute somewhat to its value. it seems like at least half of the model b's i've seen have been done in the house silver. my sample size is of course modest. so a non-silver example would be the scarcer.

hope you are able to post again following the in-person visitation...

one thing you could check is the shell to see if she is a seventy or a seventy-four.

Just looking, the Cinelli timeline says Model B production ended in 73. What am I missing?

Referencing the bottom bracket shell width.

numbers in my message refer to width of shell in mm, not dates. sometimes the shorthand gets in the way of communication! apologies for any misunderstanding.

since she is fitted with t.a. chainset it is pretty difficult to be a seventy-four. campag on the other hand made EVERYTHING for seventy-four - single, double and triple dimension bb spindles. t.a. spindle will likely be a number 344 - their standard double. t.a. did not make different spindles for seventy vs sixty-eight mm shells. they solved it by making the walls of their italian thread cups one mm thicker than those on their bsc or metric cups.

have a fine time with your inspection!
