1982 Fuji Del Ray - Reasonable price?

Hey guys,

I'm looking at a local Fuji Del Ray for sale - $180. I've done a little online research and I have concluded that it's a 1982 (see the original brochure page here: https://classicfuji.com/1982_17_DelRey_Page.htm). Seems the Del Ray was a mid to low market bike in the Fuji range at the time.

Here is the ad: vintage"fuji del rey* VALITE tubing*23" tall rider*Japan bike"

Looks like it's been for sale for a little bit - 15 days. I think the asking price went down today.

Thanks for any help!

Hello and welcome to the forums. It looks like an OK deal as long as it is truly ready to ride trouble free for the next year. Does it fit you? You need to around 5'10"ish with say a 33" inseam for that frame.

If the bike is in as good of condition as the pics show and it fits, sure why not.
You would have a newly tuned solid bike with nice paint for that price...doesn't seem excessively high.
I would hope it could be had for $150, but that is a relatively arbitrary threshold of mine for lower/mid end 80s road bikes with suicide levers fixed up and in good conditon.

Clean, paint, looks fresh overall, not a bad deal. Go for it and enjoy!

Thanks, guys! I know $180 is not a ton but I don't want to waste money. I'll go check it out!

Also - it should fit, but I'll make sure. I'm about 5'11" with a 33.5" inseam.

I agree with oddjob. Below is the '84 Del Rey frame that I got this summer for $40 but I was just seriously lucky. I then added the wheelset and other odds and ends (tape, pedals, cables, chain, bottle holder, saddle, housing) to my specs so it all adds up. I absolutely love riding this bike and these Fuji's are addictive so watch out! I say go for it and offer $150. It is the winter and if you are offering cash that is a big motivator. It looks like a nice bike. Good luck! Also throw those turkey wings in the recycling bin if you get it!

I concur with the others. Not a screaming deal but a very solid one esp. with the newish tires. More often than not you have to replace tires when buying a used bike and continental ultras are quality tires.

Well I ended up getting it for $150. Could use a cleanup but seems in decent shape. Thanks for the feedback!

Good for you. Enjoy it and post a picture once you have it cleaned up and ready to ride.
