1974 Geoffrey Butler Custom
This bike has been discussed a bit in the " eBay / CraigsList finds - "Are you looking for one of these!?" Part II" over in C&V...
$1,200 RARE 1974 antique racing bicycle Geoffrey Butler custom
So...what is the value here...the $1200 seems high to me...and I believe the owner will negotiate...what is the consensus on this one?

I'd say 800-1000 given the mixed bag components and some chips and scratches, lack of brake lever hoods etc. I'd personally love to have that one.

On CL? I doubt it. That's ambitious for ebay, though it might be my starting point with a BIN. As a CL sale...maybe 500, and it wouldn't sell fast. On ebay...smaller name stuff can be variable, but I'd guess a 7 day auction would result in 700 or so.
Smaller name stuff rarely sells that high unless it has a rabid cult following. He can tell nice stories about the DA-Campy mix all he wants, and be did market/rationalize it well, but the reality is that 70s dura ace isn't that desirable and its a Frankenstein.
