Need help with value/time period?

Hi everyone.. I need some help with dating this and if there is any value. (Medical expenses to take care of and needing to sell these.) One says Italvelo and the other is Dahon?

Any value to these? Thanks for looking.

Very little value, and front wheel/fork is turned around backwards on the Italvelo. Most folders have very little value regardless. In my market, I have pretty much given up on selling folders other than old Raleigh 20s.

Agree with wrk.

Very minimal value on both, and they won't sell fast. I'd say best case scenario is $75-$100 on the italvelo in ride away condition. 100 on the dahon. I would expect substantially less since they're probably not maintained. Honestly...I'm not sure you'll get 100 for both. Best course might be the write off with a donation to a local bike community group.

Sorry about that! Didn't realize when I took the photo it was turned. Thanks for the advice... Any idea on age?

Dahon came out in the early '80s. The other might be a little older. You can look for the date code on the Sturmey rear hub, something like 06(spaces)78 near the logo would indicate June of '78 for the hub production and the rest of the bike is likely from that time.

The Dahon is actually a pretty sophisticated mechanism, more a collapsible than a mere folder. Clean them both up before posting an ad so each looks its best. If donating, don't bother.

There's a forum for folders: https://www.bikeforums.net/folding-bikes/ You might also edit your thread title to reflect "folders" and maybe include the bike names.

You can get good money for a Dahon folder in an urban area like NYC where apartments are small and theft is high. Otherwise in suburban markets, fuggedaboutit. If I can find a super clean lightly used Dahon in Michigan for under $100, I can usually double my investment by selling in NYC.
