1982 Mercian Olympic frame/fork (56cm)

Circumstances have forced me to sell this beauty. I'd love to build it and ride, but I have to n-1 in a hurry.

Specs can be seen at http://www.merciancycles.co.uk/files...2920-1522m.jpg. The catalog scan was from 1981, but models remained unchanged through 1986. This frame had a set of water bottle bosses added at the factory.

As you can see in the photos, the paint is getting thin in spots. There's also a small spot of rub on the chainstay. I'd say it's a nice 10 footer though, especially with an OA bath and waxing.

The dropouts were professionally spread to 130mm and aligned. The frame measures 56cm seat tube c-t, 56cm top tube. Headset is not included. Asking $200 + actual shipping (paypal gift preferred).

See the rest of the images (including high resolution shots) here.

Oh, that's nice. Unfortunately, just a tad on the small side for me.

If I didn't already have one, I'd be all over it. Someone pick up this crazy good deal!

I wish it were a 54. I've wanted a Mercian and that price would make it a no-brainer for me.

Oh my, oh my! Right size, right color, reasonable price, paint??? Any idea what it would cost to ship to Oregon?

Thanks and regards,

Van

Let's call it $50 and I'll cover the difference.

Just my humble opinion.

First, this is a sales thread, and unlike the other threads, someone is trying to sell something.
Second, I don't know the exact distances, but Durham, NH to Madison, WI is about 1200 miles. The distance from Madison, WI to Portland, OR is about 2000 miles, or 1.67 times, so the cost must be higher.

I just checked Bikeflights Madison->Portland about $40 + packing materials is about right at $50. Fedex starts at $85 + packing materials. Even if the OP chooses Bikeflights, he's not making money on the shipping. I don't see the problem.

I always appreciate the opportunity to learn. However, this isn't my first time shipping a bike. $50.00 is reasonable.

Sold!

Get a Fedex account. The cost drops considerably. $85+ is just silly. Florida to Nebraska was $38 using a Fedex account.

Depends on the size of the bike. Some boxes for hybrids force oversized shipping rates, which raises the cost considerably. Fortunately, that's not the case with this frame.

So, has it really sold and you are negotiating shipping cost? Bike Flights recommends using a frame specific box from LBS or using a bike box that has been cut down to be under the size restrictions. They say that it also needs to be under 30 lbs. I guess it just takes a little creativity. As long as Striknein is covering the difference, what's the problem?

striknein 06-16-15 10:26 PM

It's sold, funds received, and will be shipped tomorrow.
