F.S. 1983 Sekai 4000 (new photos)

SOLD. I need to sell my 1983 Sekai 4000 to make room for my grail bike that I just purchased. Set up with a compact crank and 14-32 6-speed freewheel, the bike is perfect for light touring or commuting or just quick recreational riding. The frame as 57cm C-T seat tube and a 56cm C-C top tube made of Tange #2 tubing. It has Suntour Cyclone Mk.II (long cage rear) derailleurs, Dia-Compe brakes with Kool-Stop salmon pads, Veloflex Master 25 tires on Araya rims w/Suzue sealed hubs, Shimano SPD touring pedals, Selle Italia Turbo saddle with Sugino Maxi 2-bolt seat post and a Shimano sealed bottom bracket. The bike was totally stripped down, inside sprayed with Frame Saver and all surfaces cleaned and waxed when I purchased it.

All cables, cable housings, brake hoods, pads and KMC chain are fresh. This beautiful and rare bike needs nothing.

I'm asking $375 (plus any shipping) which is less than I have invested. New price $350.

I can take more photos for anyone interested.

That's just a beautiful bike and it even has a TA bottle cage (or a TA look alike). Does it take long reach brakes?

I don't want to say until it arrives and can take pictures; a little superstitious I guess. Southern Oregon huh? That's not to far away.

haha, not far at all. this bike is the size i think i ride but it turns out i really prefer something more like 54 or 55cm seat and 55 or 56cm top. 54x54 is a touch small, and my serotta is 56x56 and is a touch large. Buddy rides a 58 or 59, hes 6'2". Good luck on the sale and can;t wait to see this grail bike. Judging by the bikes in your Signature, you have nice taste.

Here are more photos of the Sekai. The bike, as it sits, weighs 21lbs 11ozs according to my Park scale.

There is room for larger tires or fenders if you desire.

The chainrings are low mile T/A rings (50 & 34) on Sugino AT cranks. The cranks can be fitted with a triple. (notice 2 riv-nuts below downtube by original owner for 2nd water bottle)

Suntour Cyclone Mk.II derailleurs.

Selle Italia Turbo Special saddle and Sugino 2-bolt micro adjust seat post.

Man it's nice, and I've been on the hunt for a Sekai 4000 for a while now, but I'm holding out for one of the earlier ones with the chrome lugs, etc. So tempting though, as it's my size and nearby....

I can also throw in some extras, spare freewheel and chainrings, change the saddle to one of the other ones I have for sale, if a buyer would like. I also have set of like new Mavic GL 330 rims with Suntour Sprint hubs that could be included for $25 more (shipping would be additional).

I'm glad this bike didn't show up earlier before I picked up a new project bike or this would have sorely tempted me. This is a beautiful bike.

Not close to my size. And like others have said, I'm lucky because my wife would have rolled her eyes at yet another bike just showing up in the garage.

Curious- have you only posted the bike here? I can't imagine it would last more than a few hours at $350 on CL where you are.

I've only posted here so far; I want forum members to have first shot at it. If it doesn't sell here, eventually it will go on CL.

Good of you to give first shot here. Hopefully someone snags it soon.
Don't forget to send grail pics once you get the bike!

I can tell you that if I were starting over again with zero bikes, this thread would be over by now. Beautiful and the perfect size for me.

With every new post on this thread, I'm expecting to read "Sold." I would have bought it last week if it were a smaller size. It's a really nice bike.
