For sale: 1958 Raleigh Lenton Grand Prix frame/fork/hs/bb

Time to thin the herd a bit. Up for sale is a 1958 Raleigh Lenton Grand Prix frame plus fork plus headset plus BB plus a few other bits I'll describe below. Size is 59cm seat tube measured center to top, 57cm top tube measured center to center. Originally built for 27" wheels, but I was running it with 700c x 37mm wheels + fenders and center pull brakes that didn't have crazy long reach. Reynolds 531 main tubes (I believe). Paint is, um, challenged, and there's evidence of crimped chain stays from a kickstand (as shown in the pics).

I'm dating this as 1958 as it has just the one shifter braze on, so it would have had a rod-operated FD, which they phased out after 1958, I believe. I show the serial # in a pic, but I don't put much stock in dating these by serial #. Included in the sale is what's shown: frame, fork, headset, complete cottered BB, seat post, seat clamp bolt, front light bracket bolt (but not the bracket).

Price is $125 + shipping from zip 02446 in the CONUS. Payment by PayPal. If interested, please email me at lerner dot n at gmail dot com, rather than PM.

A golden oldie! These are hard to find in any condition, let alone straight. This won't last.

3 speed would be sweet but I would do the 1X5 setup.

Thank heavens it's not in my size. I'd be in the dog house once that showed up. Such a nice bike!

I'm not exactly sure, but that's why I'm including the installed bottom bracket assembly. My guess would be that it's 26tpi.

Just came up from the basement for a breath of air. I'm putting the finishing touches on my LGP. I've rebuilt it six different ways and it's great however you put it together. Very similar in dimensions and ride characteristics to my Supercourse.
Yes, 26 tpi. These came out of Nottingham, not Carlton.
I paid a bit more for mine and it was in worse shape. Great deal.

It's kind of funky, Henry. I've had that wheel on a bunch of different bikes, mostly commuters, and it's a bit challenging to find the right sprocket/chainring combo, but not impossible (especially because the hub sprocket is a standard Sturmey-Archer/Shimano Nexus type). I tend to treat it like a single speed with a bit of a low gear for when you need it.

Also, this frameset is still available. I've had an inquiry but no money has changed hands yet.

Still available! I'm leaving town for a week tomorrow morning, but my plan is to move this frameset to eBay when I return.

I've been humming and hawing about this one for a while but I think it's just a bit too tall of a frame for me. I have a 3 speed wheelset, bluemels and even lights waiting for a frame like this.

This frame will never sell. It is made from steel, not aluminum and certainly is not a Cannondale. It is a no good, boat anchor and surely could never be considered epic.
