Eisentraut Limited project frame

SOLD

Time to get rid of projects I know I will never finish. This one is an Eisentraut Limited frame. It is mid 70s, probably 75. 58cm ctc seat and 57cm ctc top tubes. Campy dropouts. Not sure what kind of tubing but likely Reynolds 531 or Columbus SL. 120mm rear dropout spacing. Frame is in good shape, no dents, no dings, in good alignment. It came to me in fairly bad shape cosmetically. Many, many scratches, chips and scrapes all over with surface rust. I was going to do a full restoration on this one. But other stuff came up. I soda blasted and sanded parts of the frame to bare metal to check the rust situation. It had a very tough paint job with a deep undercoat. It was hard to get off and will probably take another couple of passes with stripper or a blaster to get it completely down to bare metal. You can see in the pictures that there are still corrosion marks on the tubing but I think this frame is still very sound and with some more stripping and sanding would be a good candidate for a decent paint job. Velocals has decals for this frame.

I was thinking that...but in the other direction...a little bigger.

By the way, Jim is a great guy to do business with.

In the third picture the inside of the drive side stays at the dropout are relieved. Does anyone know if this s this an Eisentraut feature? My '76 Masi has this feature and I suspect that it may be one of the Eisentraut builds from that time.

Eisentraut would often mix tube sets to get just what he wanted, so it's not unusual for an Eisentraut frame to lack a tubing decal. You can be confident that whatever tubes were used were high quality, though.

Given that the rear dropouts have eyelets and the fork dropouts do not, any other reason to suspect it's a replacement fork?

Nope. Here is picture in original shape. If it is a replacement it is the best paint match I have ever seen. It also had the same terrible clear nail polish touch up work as the frame.

Many of Albert’s frames back then had eyelets in the rear only. Also, the first two digits of the serial number would be the year it was made. For instance 75L123.

Yeah, you might be right, but it looks like hatrack71 already put in dibs. If not, @BlueDevil63, let me know.
