FS: 1989 Pinarello Montello
SOLD
1989 Pinarello Montello slx Original paint and components in very good condition. A couple of minor chips that are hard to show on photos.. Decals are flaking, as is typical with Pinarellos from this era. However, they are mostly intact, which is better than most you will find! It's missing the non-drive side pedal dust cap, and there are some scratches on the rear derailleur and brake levers. Overall, it's a nicely appointed example of this top-of-the-line frame. Measurements: Seat tube, ctc - 54.5cm Top tube, ctc - 55cm Crank arm length - 172.5mm Stem length - 100mm Components:

Wow, beautiful Montello specimen. I have a 1985 Montello and it is an amazingly beautiful and great riding bike. Those brakes are arguable the most beautiful brakes ever made by Campy. Good luck with the sale (and rethink getting rid of it)!

Gorgeous. The chrome stays and painted brake bridge are interesting.
Free bump for you. |
Wow Tom, -- another beautiful bike ! Kind of a rare occasion that I am glad a beautiful machine like this is a hair too big for me --- was an expensive C&V winter for me
-- to everyone else, -- I purchased a Colnago Super from Tom over the winter, -- this guy knows how to pack a bike. Took me an hour to unpack it and everything arrived in beautiful shape - buy with confidence |
Gorgeous machine.

1989 Pinarello Restoration
There are not many Vintage bicycle restoration services here in Alberta, Canada. If anyone knows where I may find a competent restorer close by and can vouch for them, please let me know.

FYI,
Headset is Mavic 310 or 312........highly sought after/expensive when NOS. derailleurs are Mavic 850 SSC. Can't tell from the pic if the chainrings are dark anodized, but if they are, they will be the 630 SSC crankset. The non-SSC version of the 630 had silver chainrings.. So, it looks like you have full Mavic group on the bike, except for the stem (could be 3TTT), bar and seatpost. Modolo supplied Mavic their sidepull brakes (They silk screened the Mavic /SSC logos on them, instead of the Modolo branding), so the Modolo Pros you have on there is appropriate to the group. Simplex supplied the unbranded Retrofriction shifters for their SSC group. |
