Looking for small-ish touring bike, 49-50cm
 

Hi all, I'm looking for a tourer in the neighborhood of 49-50cm for my wife. C&V isn't a must, but it seems to be the best bang for the buck on this kind of bicycle in particular. Preferably we would like to find a complete bike for her, but a frameset would work if the price is right and it meets her needs well.

I'm in Syracuse, NY, and can drive 2-3 hours for pick-up.

So, let me know what you have! Any classic Cannondales, Treks, Miyatas, Raleighs out there? I'll show her everything that gets posted here and hopefully we'll find a match. Thanks all.

Consider searching for a mixte, you might like the result. I built up this blue Nishiki for my daughter.

I hadn't thought about a mixte, but yours looks great! I'll keep it in mind.

That could be a possibility. Any idea how difficult would it be to repair that rack mount?

I've got a 50 cm 1984 Miyata 1000 that's in really good shape and I'm about 2 hours away by car. PM on the way.

I have a Cannondale-built LL Bean mtb frame. Oversize aluminum frame & steel fork.

Seat tube 46 C-C / 51 C-T
Double eyelets at dropouts
Cantis
26" wheel

The simplest fix is a front rack that attaches to the cantilever brake mounts or attaching both the front rack and fenders to the lower eyelets. I'm not sure if there is an easy way to replace the eyelet.

Thanks again to everyone for your help, particularly to @skydog for passing along this really lovely (original excepting consumables) Miyata One-Thousand. As it happens, my wife and I are about the same size, so I got the Miyata and she gets my '90 Cannondale ST400. The Cannondale is rock-solid and it exactly what she needed, and the Miyata is a grail bike for me. Everyone's happy.

Better photos to come in a new thread once I get her fully torn down, polished, and rebuilt, but the ride to work the last few days has put a big smile on my face.

BTW, that CL Panasonic PT-3500 is still available, and IMO is a good deal at $120. Its Tange 1000 double-butted with Deore ders, biopace crank. Seller is willing to ship. The Nishiki Cresta is also very nice, but was too small.
