Forgive my ignorance, but how does a UG DA cassette fit on a Campy hub? Were they compatible in the 80's?

It's a freewheel. I assume they just threaded it on.

Its a freewheel hub. I think the cassette hubs have a larger "hourglass" shaped barrel at the cog end of the hub.
