FS: Sach New Success 8s Ergo Mini Group
Was saving these for a project, but a pending move had necessitated a downsizing. Included is
- Sachs New Success 2/3x8 Ergo Shifters - These are a bit of rough aesthetically, with some scuffing to the lever bodies and a torn right hood (new ones available on ebay for about $20, but these are still useable). On the rh lever a small piece of the body has broken off near where the brake cable exits (circles in the pic below), but when installed the pressure of the cable keeps the removable cable block in place and/or the small bit of metal underneath could be epoxied back in. Functionally they are in great shape, recently clean and oiled and both click solidly throughout the range
- Sachs New Success RD - Light road rash on the underside but otherwise great aesthetic and functional shape. The spot of surface rust on the mounting bolt has been largely removed
- Campagnolo Record braze-on FD - Great shape, minor signs of use
- Sachs LY 12-24 Freewheel in good shape, spinning nicely. This one has the brown 'Shimano' spacers which are slightly more narrow than the red Campy spaced freewheel and compatible with this shifting system. Apparently the shifters and rd also work well with 8s hyperglide cassettes as well.
Overall the group functions great but does have some aesthetic flaws as noted. NOW $100 shipped CONUS paypal f/f or buyer pays fees, hopefully that's not too off base. As always, please see pics for details and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

I use and prefer Sachs Ergo like these on several bikes, and as @Brewsmith notes, they can be used with Shimano Hyperglide 8-spd cassettes. Several of my Sachs shifters like the cassettes with Shimano spacing (4.8mm), and some (I've used four different sets) like 7-spd/Campy spacing (5.0mm). The latter is easily accomplished by changing 6 spacers on cassettes with separable cogs. The outer, smallest cog (spacer is part of the cog) can be either. But the wider spaced cassettes need a slightly taller lock ring to engage the Hyperglide body threads.

Sorry. I've only used mine with Sach New Success RD's. FD can be anything - one of several advantages for Ergo brifters.

I guess I'm going to have to do a field test. If it doesn't work, then I'll be back with you. If it does, I like the look of the first gen better.
Been too busy working on other projects - painted one complete and parts of two other bikes this weekend. Assembly time soon.

Brewsmith, I can't PM because of being a new member (thought I was a member way back when, but.....). Anyhow, I'd love to claim the Sachs mini-group if it's still available.

Any chance the buyer wants some New Success hubs to go with his groupset? I've got some. They are in 650c but I can cut them out.

New Success hubs
Gartenmeister, I appreciate the offer, but I'm probably not in the market for hubs. I have a set of American Classic FW hubs already laced to GL330s that I was going to use this with....but I AM curious. Don't recall having seen the New Success hubs before. Any chance you can post a pic or two?
