Mercier 70s Racing-man Bike
Ok, this one is an oddball. It's a 70s Mercier but not a standard 100/200/300.
Steel rims, pretty heavy tubing. Lots of surface rust on the chrome but nothing structural. Paint has a nice patina and is in decent shape. No dents or dings.
51cm ctc seat tube
55 cm ctc top tube
Normandy hubs
Mafac Racer brakes and levers
21.8 stem
25.6 seatpost
Super cool racer guy decal-applied with the characteristic French workmanship (wrinkled)
Simplex derailleur
Really it's taking up tons of space in the garage, so I want it gone.
Price Reduced $65 plus actual shipping and packing supplies (just a couple bucks-I tend to pack my bikes very well)? CONUS PayPal only. Will also take offers on frame/ parts individually if you don't want to ship the whole Bike Let me know if I'm out of line, I don't know much about these old Frenchies.

;Wow. My very first "10-speed" bike was this very model and color Mercier. Early '70s. I loved "sprinting" on that thing. Rode to/from college/girl friend's house during the '70s energy crisis.
ps. Loved the "Lemond geometry."

Can I get a better photo of the friction shifters? How much for them alone?

Thanks for the interest! I know there's far more value parting this out, but it's a cool bike, and I'd feel bad just stripping it. Im going to hold out a little while longer to see if someone wants to refurb the whole thing, then consider parting it out.

Very cool bike! Weird observation...what are the purpose of the barrel adjusters on the downtube shifters? Usually cable housing would go into those type of adjusters but it's a downtube shifter so no housing is normally used at that location. If I was riding more I'd pick up this little gem. I like quirky entry level French and Italian bikes. They always seem to have more ornate lugs then the top of the line stuff.

It is a good thing (for me anyway) that you are far away, I like the bike complete as is and even the wrinkled racing man decal only adds to the character of the bike. Hopefully someone will do a functional-restoration/rebuild on it and post followup pics when done. I'm wondering if this one has all the uniquely Frence thread and component sizing on it.
