FS: 1970s Gitane, re-paint

Ever dream of riding in on a White Steed?

I don't have the exact model on this frame. The original owner said he bought it new between 1970-1973. He said it was a "Tour de France". He had it re-painted at some point. There are some chips in the paint. Please see photos.
The most visible are the chips on the top tube; on the down tube where the front derailleur would clamp is chipped to. Please see all the photos for areas that are chipped. The sale is for frame/fork and Stronglight bottom bracket. This is a large frame. It seems measuring techniques vary so if you want me to re-measure it, let me know. I came up with 63cm from center of seat cluster to center of bottom bracket. The top tube is 60cm, center of seat cluster to center of head tube.

Sale includes: frame, fork and original Stronglight BB

I am asking $100 plus shipping. (CONUS) I would use Bikeflights.
Please see photos.

It certainly looks like a Gitane TdF of the era, but for the brazed on shift lever mounts, top tube and B.B. cable guides. Perhaps added before painting? Sad to see the chrome gone, but perhaps it couldnít be saved? Have you checked over on the Gitane Usa forum or contacted Chas (@verktyg;)?

If I didnít already have one in that size . GLWS!

The paint job is actually quite nice. It appears to have been professionally done.

The sticker indicates Imron and a professional job.

There has to be a home, somewhere out there, for this classic.

I also have one in this size but it doesn't stop me from wanting it. It could be an invitation to a divorce. Forty years down the drain...

I'm here!

It's a 1972 Gitane TdF (Bocama medium point lugs, swagged seat stay tops and brazed-on rear brake cable bridge) with added braze-ons. Full Reynolds 531 (well not actually all 531, the steerer was made by Nervor and the head tube and brake bridge are gas pipe like most bikes from those days).

Gitane and many others measured frames from the center of the BB to the top of the seat tube, so a 63cm would be a 64cm nominal (~25") sized frame.

From the pictures, it looks more like a 62cm (~ 24 1/2 nominal) frame to my eyes ???

When I see painted chrome on bikes from that era, I assume that it was pretty well corroded. If you're not doing a restoration, it doesn't matter.

You can get nice decals from Cyclomondo on eBay for $45 USD.

White paint is easy to touch up so those dings in the paint are no problem.

The price is very fair especially with Stronglight BB cups. It takes a Stronglight P3 headset with a 33mm stack height.

The replacement metric headsets being sold today like the one from VeloORANGE have a 41mm stack height like Campagnolo. 8mm is a big difference!

The last picture below shows a quick way to measure stack height.

Thanks to @verktyg for the information.
I did buy some rather expensive white nail polish. I touched one spot to see how it would look; looks good. I did not continue b/c i thought I would leave it to the next owner's discretion.
I love this model Gitane; I have owned two, unfortunately both were not my size.
Hope to find a home for this.
