~1972 Cinelli Speciale Corsa F/F/HS 60cm
Price reduced: now $1,500.00 $1,450.00 $1,400.00 on terms stated below. I am now listing this beauty elsewhere, too, so it is subject to prior sale.
Please note: I will respond to interested parties as soon as I can; likewise, I will ship as soon as I can. I cannot promise instant responses, and it will likely be a few days before I can ship. It could be as much as a week, but I will try very hard not to have it be that long.
For sale: one approx. 1972 Cinelli Speciale Corsa frame, fork and headset. When I bought it, I was told it was from the late 1960s, but based on the Cinelli timeline on Velo Retro, 1972 is a better estimate. As you likely know, Cinelli serial numbers seem to have been randomly assigned and are of little to no use in dating a Cinelli frame. It does not have: oil or drain ports in the BB; fender eyelets on the dropouts; water bottle cage braze-ons; brake cable braze ons; or chrome socks. It does have: brazed on BB cable guides; three holes in the head lugs, the seat lug and the fork tabs; the chromed fork crown and back half of the seat lug you would expect; the red-filled slot on the sides of the seat lug; at least one file mark (on the right rear dropout) that are not at all unusual on Cinellis; and patina.
Also included is the Cinelli seat post bolt (allen) and a 26.2mm seat post (simple pillar-only type, nothing fancy - if nothing else, it will protect the seat cluster during shipping).
I bought this a few years back and rode it at Eroica CA in 2016 & 2017. It rides straight and true, and if I hadn't found another Cinelli frame in my size (this one is a bit small for me) I wouldn't be selling it. My gain can be your gain, too.
Here are the hard facts. These are my measurements, and I guarantee them to be close, but they are not to NASA tolerances:
Tubing: Columbus, probably SL
Seat tube: 60cm ctc, 61.5 to the top of seat lug
Top tube: 58cm
Head tube: 173mm
Wheelbase: 102.5cm
Standover: 85.4cm (that's about 33-5/8"). This was measured with 700c wheels with 23mm tubulars.
Bottom bracket: standard 70mm Italian threading.
Rear dropouts: 120mm.
Front dropouts: 110mm.
Chainstay: 42.5cm
Head angle: 73*
Seat angle: 72.5*
Seat post: 26.2mm
Weight: about 6.8 lbs for frame, fork & headset
Headset brand: Heck if I know. It has no brand marks on it, came with the frame. looks to be period correct, works and is nice and shiny.
Headset stack height; Heck if I know
No dents, a number of scratches, about what you would would expect from a 45 years old frame that was used but well taken care of.
Now the more subjective stuff. Check the photos for more on these things.
Paint: Good on an absolute scale, Very Good for its age. Perfect it isn't, but it was a rider, not a garage queen. For a 45 year old rider, you'll be hard pressed to find much better. Study the photos; they show the condition pretty well. Some of the red in the lug holes could use a dot of red paint (I never got around to it).
Chrome: Very good condition, especially for its age.
Decals: Surprisingly good condition.
Headbadge: Excellent condition. Damn near pristine.
Price:$1,600.00. Now $1,500.00 $1,450.00 $1,400.00. That's all in, meaning the price covers shipping (almost certainly via Bike Flights) to the lower 48 and PayPal fees. If you are in Hawaii or Alaska, I'll need to add something to the shipping - we can talk. Local pick-up okay, and yes, I will knock something off for that. Again, we can talk. Sorry, no international shipping.
If I'm shipping, PayPal only. If you're picking it up, cash only
