1988 Centurion Ironman Master - Purple Haze - Mint

SOLD

“Nearly-NOS” 1988 Centurion Dave Scott Master. I say nearly-NOS because the bike is an absolutely mint garage queen with nearly no miles on it. The bike matches RobbieTunes’ “Ironman Information Thread” components listing perfectly, the only things that aren’t original to the bike are the bar tape and cables. Even the tires are original in perfect rideable condition, they still have the rubber mold injection “hairs” on them! The brake calipers still have the rubber grommet thingies, and it has the original turbo saddle too!

What I’ve done: I broke the bike down and serviced the components, including the headset, chain, and rear derailleur pulleys. The BB spins perfectly, so I left it alone. I then cleaned/polished the frame and all components and reassembled with new cables and bar tape. Other than a little yellowing of the clearcoat and a few minorpaint chips, the paint and decals are perfect. The only other issue is that the chainstay protector is a bit crinkled, but this can be easily replaced if needed.

Specifications:

Size: 58 cm CtoT seattube, about 56-57 cm CtoC toptube
Color: "Purple Haze" smoked purple fade
Frame: Tange 1
Fork: Tange unicrown (prestige?)
Wheelset: Shimano 6400 hubs, Araya CTL-370 rims
Cassette: Shimano HG 2x7 cassette. 13-24
Tires: Panaracer Technova II (like new!)
BB: Tange
Crankset: Shimano 6400-53/42
Peddles: Shimano 6400, Shimano cages, Sugino straps
Brakes: Shimano 6400
Levers: Shimano 6400 aero
Bars: Nitto B115 - 420
Stem: Nitto
Headset: Shimano 6400
Shifters: Shimano 6400
FD: Shimano 6400
RD: Shimano 6400
Seatpost: Sugino
Saddle: Selle Italia Turbo

Asking SOLD local pickup in Southern California. Willing to ship at cost via bikeflights, but local pickup is preferred, sorry.

Thanks!!

-Ian

Very nice. Fork is definitely not Prestige, though.

I don't need this.
An Ironman already resides in The Lab.

Why do I come back two or three times a day to review the pictures?

Somebody's gonna be really happy with their purchase.

Haha! I find myself looking at the photos several times a day even though I have the bike sitting in my garage! It could be in your garage soon, rccardr!

It currently has 700x20 tires. But take a look, plenty of room down there to go bigger!

Price bump: $333

I need to move some inventory to fund waiting projects and buy windows for the house (also to make the wife happy!), so I’m going to try my luck with multiples of threes, since I have three bikes for sale on here

PM me if interested.

If this fit me (I take a 54), I would be in my car already, driving south...

It’s the seat stay brake bridge one needs to confirm can handle bigger tires.

Beautiful bike, GLWS.

Hi Robert,

I have a local sale pending for next Monday. However, I have had 3 buyers drop out or flake already, so if it’s still available next week I’ll be sure to contact you. I shipped to Nashville and Des Moines earlier this month, and both were ~$50.
