57cm Gugificazione 650b conversion

Update: SOLD!

Selling for $650 - that's $1 a b, folks!

Started life as an early 70's Fuji Finest back when Fuji was copying french geometry - it's a natural low trail bike.

First, the size: ST is 57cm CTC TT 55cm CTC - ideal for someone who's height is mostly in the legs/shorter torso.
I did this a few years ago as a "spec" bike - no one in particular to ride it. It's an early 70's Fuji Finest, which is a "natural" low trail frame and fork - no reraking was required. I did a full "Gugificazione" on it, brazed on cantilevers, reworked fender bridges, pump pegs, bottle and shifter bosses, all the goodies. The frame is fully chromed underneath a brand spanking new powder coat. I masked the chrome lugs and a few shiny bits. It's built for internal wiring through the downtube, and the front fork has internal wiring from generator to just under the fork crown.

In addition, this comes with fully shaped VO Zepellin fenders and a VO front rack that's been modified to fit perfectly on the bike, as well as most of the components you'd need or want. List of bits:
  • Velo Orange Zepellin fenders
  • Velo Orange Randonneur front rack
  • Shimano sealed BB
  • VO headset
  • Wheelset
    • VO sealed rear hub
    • Sanyo generator front hub
    • SOMA Weymouth 650b 36 hole rims
    • DT stainless spokes
    • handbuilt wheels
    • Gran Bois Hetre 650b x 42mm red tires (as shown)
  • Drivetrain
    • 7 speed freewheel
    • TA Tourist triple half step with granny triple
    • Suntour VGT derailleurs front and rear
    • Suntour barcon shifters
  • MAFAC cantilever brakes (rear is Tektro as shown, but I have a clean matched set)
  • SR randonneur bars, 9cm stem
  • Laprade seatpost (not shown)
  • Frame pump fitted to pump pegs as shown.
I can throw in a saddle and pedals, but these are usually rider specific.

I could part this out for more money, but would rather see someone buy and ride this.

$650 plus shipping. More pix here.

That’s real nice. I know you put that up here to get me to ride a bike with fatty tires...

That' a great bike and exactly in my size. I'll take it. Can't send you a PM because I don't have enough posts.

Thank you very much for buying this! I wanted it, but now I'm $650 richer for not buying it. That said, if this falls through, let me know.

Ha ha - I had that very same thought, except I figured it was put up here for me! I'm always hearing about how I need to add a bike with fat tires and fenders...

Wait! There was a 57cm frame with chrome lugs in your shop that I didn't try to buy from you? How did that happen?

Seriously, though, I've seen this bike many times and it is a beauty.

It's almost perfect for someone like me. I'm 5'9" tall. But I have a long torso and short legs. Suppose they put a long-reach stem on it. Then what?

Then it would have a long-reach stem on it.
