53cm Simonetti Fillet Brazed Columbus FOCO Frame w/ Titanium Alpha Q Fork
NOW $325 Shipped CONUS
Selling a very nice and unique Simonetti/Simo Cycles frame fillet brazed by Mike Howard of Medici/Masi fame. Built from the short-lived and incredibly light Columbus FOCO shaped steel, this frame features some very nice fillets and excellent design details such as the fast back stays, aero downtube and smooth internal top tube routing (with the key internal tube that makes threading housing a breeze). Overall the frame is in excellent condition with no dings, dents or bends. The paint is a gorgeous candy apple red with a few chips to the paint from storage, mostly on the NDS stays, most of which don't even make it through the primer. There is a tiny bubble to the paint at one of the top tube ports as well, but barely worth noting. The fork is an incredibly rare Alpha Q carbon fork with Titanium steerer tube and equally rare Stronglight JDX94 needle bearing headset, both of which are in stellar shape. The serial number seems to have it as a 54, but my measurements are: Top tube 53cm ctc Seat tube 53cm ctc 56cm ctt Head tube 12cm, 17cm to the top of the headset Chain stays 41.5cm Italian BB Asking $425 shipped CONUS as pictured for the frame, fork and headset. Please see pics for details and feel free to ask any questions. Album HERE https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...acfd1ec55e.jpg |
Any rough idea of the date of manufacturer on that frame? late 90's, early 2000s?
|
My MTB is FOCO and I had a Wilier Gavia FOCO which I REALLY regret selling. To the point of hunting down the buyer and asking if I could buy it back. I've since acquired an 853 frame which is supposedly a similar level and technology, but I still lust after a 58cm foco roadie. GLWTS

Easily fits 25c, 28c should work as well. The brake bridge is well placed and designed, so larger tires are easy to slip in fully inflated as well

Do you happen to have any pics of the frame built up? and/or the weight of frame/fork/headset?

Is Foco thinner-walled than ELOS? |

Brew, I am sorely tempted, since I'm not seeing much in my size (53) wity 130 chainstays and solid dropouts. But I was hoping for a not quite so nice frame, since I want to build up a trainer bike for the rest of the winter ... Hmmm! But this just seems too nice!

Not sure, but from what I have heard, FOCO became Columbus Spirit, albeit without the shaping

Is the BB English or Italian thread?
