700c with the brakes?

Hi,

For those who have put a 700c wheel on a ProTour, did the stock brakes reach OK?

It seems like the post mounts makes any brake change more complicated.

Thanks!

Eric

@tgot - No problem with 700c wheels. These frames are great platforms for a variety of builds.

I vaguely recall having to swap a 610 for a 750, but can’t remember if it was front or back. The swap was fairly straightforward. I used the springs from the OEM 610’s to replace the bracket-mounted springs on the 750’s - that’s about it.

I estimated I should be able to fit 38’s with fenders, but haven’t done it yet.

I normally ride a 56 or so with my short legs. But maybe I could make this work.
so tempting. It’s a beautiful frame.

Happy to say, SOLD! At last.
Thanks to all the supportive members who chimed in to assist with info on these. One I will be sad to see go, but happy to know it'll be in an appreciative BF member's care and back out on the road at last.

Here's mine in credit card touring mode, 700c x 35 tires. Solid. Grade A chrome. Pinstriping to die for. Same year and color as the OP's. Vertical dropouts and brazed on centerpull posts are either way ahead of it's time or a nod to early french constructeurs. A better made production frame would be hard to find.

Rear triangle spread to 130 for 8 speed cassette usage

New home!

The frame and fork have reached their new home!

Unboxing the Centurion ProTour.

My compliments to mnmkpedals on the excellent packaging job.

I've got a pair of Shimano 32h wheels newly from CL, and a triple Ultegra drivetrain parts ordered from Brewsmith , envisioned for the build. I may try randoneur bars, and maybe the Sella Anatomical R2 saddle.

It will get its own thread in due course, maybe between Xmas and the New Year. There's a threaded rod in my future.

Thank God I didn’t see this before it sold. Just let go of my carefully rebuilt ‘79 earlier this year to finance the next dream bike. Excited to see how this one gets built out

Oh, and I should have added that I 650b-ed mine with the log-reach Dia Compe centerpulls with no problem, though it did predictably drop the bb a bit and this alter the trail / fork geometry ever so slightly.
