Maybe your ad is slightly off? Try offering the spokes for sale and mention that they come with bonus 27” rims and helicomatic hub still attached.
There’ s gotta be some Trek purist out there that needs this wheel set... GLWS.

The big problem I have with buying wheels is that they don't fit into priority postage flat rate boxes. This set may be worth $100, but they cost a lot more, unless one can pick them up locally. That makes the market pretty small. JMO, of course.
I mean that as feedback, not criticism. All it takes is one buyer for whom your offer fits a need, and I'm sure those buyers are out there. I hope one of them sees your ad. IOW, I really mean GLWTS.

The Maillard 700 Helicomatic hubs are the top-end of Maillard's product line. Well-finished, ground and polished bearing races like Campagnolo Record. The Matrix rims are heat treated, hard anodized box-section rims. The only downside is the Helicomatic features, which have a poor reputation. But the 700 series hubs and freewheel were made to the highest specifications and should perform well with a modicum of care.

Thank you for your replies.
I will giwe it a try here.
If they don't sell I will find a frame and use them.

Sorry if I sounded like I was disparaging the wheel set. I was alluding to a classic Click and Clack call-in segment from a guy who couldn't sell a fire chief's car in good condition with low miles - the kind with an exterior, manipulable spotlight. They suggested he advertise it as a $1000 spotlight with a free car attached just to get people's attention.

On the other hand, I think I might have a Trek Elance wheel that might have that guy...

Modern freehubs accomplish both these goals better than the Helicomatic, largely because a freehub incorporates the ratchet mechanism into the hub, rather than with the sprockets. This allows for larger balls than the Helicomatic design uses, which in turn prevents the wear issues in the rear hub that led to its poor reputation.
