FYI-- this crankset very likely original to that giagantic Specialized Expedition frameset which was part of that big lot. Half-step plus granny for touring, and 180mm to match those towering dimensions. You might want to consider keeping them together, as it would be hard to find if there was ever a desire to restore that fine tourer back to original spec. I also suspect the br70 canti's belong to that frame as well, and I recall seeing the original touring wheelset in the photos. You might further consider selling the bike as [almost] complete...
In any case GLWS :) |
I decided to sell the parts separately because its more likely someone is looking for a granny crankset than a tower of a frameset.
I'll post the frameset soon for sale and if a buyer wants to bundle im more than happy to do so :D |
Interestingly, the crankset was a running change on the Expedition from 1983-1985. In '83 it came equipped with a Sugino AT Triple and by '85 it donned the Specialized crank offered here. No idea what it sported in 1984.

I was a little surprised by the price of the Expedition compared to the other of the top of the line tourers- I expected it to be less expensive than the others- but not quite as expensive as it was. If that makes sense.

I'm interested, but...
1) Any evidence of cracks at the junction of the RH crank arm and spider arms? 2) What's going on with that discolored area on the spider (opposite the crank arm)? Thanks SP Newport, OR |
