1982 Trek 613 24"
 

This frame is just a tad too big and way too far down the projects list for me to justify keeping, as much as I love the early Treks. Serial number indicates its a 613 and 24" size. I guess Trek measures from the middle of the BB to the top of the TT, as pictured below. What threw me was the paint which was not a color option in 1982 and is obviously missing the Trek panel on the ST despite seeming to be a factory paint job. A little googling revealed a bunch of 613s with colors from different years and some without the panel. I guess early Trek was fast and loose with that sort of stuff. The paint has some nicks and marks here and there, but nothing major and its actually very shiny and sparkly for the most part. It was a parts Frankenstein when I got it, but well taken care of based on how effortlessly everything came apart. No dings or anything.

Measureables:
24" seat tube. 23" top tube, measured from the center of the head tube to the center of the seat tube. Reynolds 531 main tube, Ishiwata stays and fork. Spacing is 100mm front, 126mm rear. Shimano dropouts. 27.2 seatpost. Uses nutted brakes. BB shell is 68mm standard English threading. Originally came with 27" wheels, 700c wheels seem to fit from what I've gathered, not to mention a set of 700c Matrix Titan S wheels (pictured) were on there when I got it. (Available also.)

Great frame, as you said, interesting color, too! FWIW anyone thinking of buying it -- these make great 650B conversions. Clearances for 42mm tires, and DiaCompe/Weinmann long reach centerpulls work.

I had a blue one just like that, So that color existed. Now I have one in copper that's currently getting a rebuild. Great riding bikes 700c or 650b with the long reach.

There are at least a few tasteful ways this frame could be built up. GLWS!

This is really tempting, but already having a 71X (650b conversion) and 41X (700c conversion), not sure I could properly attend to another Trek in my stable. But these are lovely sport-tourers, comfort all day long when the touch points are properly sorted. And the blue is a lovely color, that’s the color of my 71X. Imron takes a drubbing and keeps on running!

Too big for me, sadly.

But a thought on the sideways pictures in your OP: iPhone? You can tell how the picture will be oriented by the little camera icon. If it's sideways from rotating your phone to take a landscape picture, wiggle your phone a little and the camera icon should right itself. :thumb:

No, those were taken on an android then cropped and put together in paint and saved, correctly oriented, on my computer before uploading. There are a mix of portrait and landscape images in the pics with multiple angles. I dunno, maybe I fiddled with it too much in paint. I've stopped trying to figure out the reason why.

I almost forgot that I can located the Sugino binder bolts, which I can include.
