1984 Miyata 610 Touring Bike 23”
Sold Locally
New year deep thoughts have lead me to a downsizing path (blasphemous on this forum, I know). I’m usually good with N+1, but need variety and four touring bikes is just unnecessary (for me). Sooo I’ve decided to let go of this awesome Miyata Six Ten. It’s been through a few build variations (first thread here) and has been a great rider with every build, including its current state.
Components are not factory spec, but period correct, of equal quality and all in tiptop shape. Fresh grease throughout and all races/bearings looked great while servicing. The Tange Levin Headset is brand new.
Also comes with leather saddle, frame pump and Suntour Superbe pedals.
The 27” touring wheelset (Maillard Sealed Hubs w/ Wolber Super Champion Rims 40R/36F) is strong, smooth and tru, but you could fairly painlessly convert to 700c if you wanted to run wider tires. Would fit 700x35 with fenders, 700x38 without fenders.
23” Frameset, Cr-Mo Double Butted Tubing
58cm CTT Seat Tube
56cm CTC Top Tube
32.75” Standover
2 water cage mounts, chainstay protector, chain hanger and eyelets for racks & fenders.
Full Parts list:
• Tange Levin Headset
• Belleri Stem and Bars
• Dia Compe Slotted Non Aero Levers
• Dia Compe 960 Cantilever Brakes
• SR Flutted Seatpost
• Speedic 170GT Leather Saddle (basically the Japanese version of the Brooks B17)
• Suntour Downtube Shifters
• Suntour Cyclone MK II Derailleurs
• SR Sakae CR Crankset (50/45/28)
• Shimano 5 Speed UG Freewheel (14-28)
• Maillard Sealed Hubs w/ 27” Wolber Super Champion Rims (40R/36F)
• Suntour Superbe Pedals with MKS Toe Clips w/ Leather tips and Miyata branded Leather Straps
• Miyata Water Bottle Cage
• Zefal HP Frame Pump

That is a beautiful bike and easily worth offer price IMO. Can you tell me if it has the seat pump post peg on left side like my kinda-610 kinda-specialized expedition bike? I post one of the pics which are in my profile pics. Note also in mine the flat seat stay. Tube dims do match mine per the miyata catalogue.

Seller was just a craigslist middleman, he alleged spec expedition (who bought frames from miyata). Factors that deny sugest otherwise IMO are: only two water bottle holders not three, no lowrider bolt on front forks, two attachment holes on front fork dropout not one, seat stay top not fluted. Factors that suggest specialized are the specialized headset and seat post binder QR, two items unlikely to be changed IMO.

There’s your Cino/Eroica bike, right there, as well as a competent tourer.

If only it was 21", I'd be all over this. Been looking for a touring frame for some time now
