1987 Schwinn Voyageur 23" Frameset w/ Extras

Further consolidating my touring bike collection and offering up my lovely '87 Schwinn Voyageur. Pictured with wheels, cause it's easier to photograph, but they are not included.

Has the typical paint scratches for its age, but no dents or other damage. Rides stable and straight as an arrow.

Double eyelets front and rear, lowrider mounts, pump peg and mounts for 3 water cages.

Included in the sale...
- 23" Frameset (58cm ctt seat tube, 57cm ctc top tube)
- Original sealed headset and cable hanger (races in good shape and spins smoothly)
- Original seatpost, clamp and rear cable hanger
- Blackburn front lowrider racks
- Custom fit rear rack (Unbranded, but might be Miyata. Made in Japan is stamped on the reflector tab)
- Velo Orange Hammered Fenders
- Shimano BR-AT50 Cantilever Brakeset (Enough adjustability for 27" or 700c Rims, Just need pads)
- Schwinn Voyageur Saddle Bag
- Zefal HP4 Frame Pump

Why couldn’t you have posted this last week when I was in Tucson?

Price Drop Bump.

Would also consider offers for just the Frame & Fork.

Yeah, I think these Voyaguers are one of the more under rated/appreciated touring bikes around, even by me. I had a 1990 model for awhile, sold it to help fund a Miyata 1000 project, then picked up this 87 to fill the void of regret for selling the 90. Now I'm in a similar boat and may very well have the same regrets if this one sells. If it doesn't move soon, I'll probably pack it away for awhile and revisit a rebuild at some point.

What someone (perhaps the OP) needs to do is send this to Gugie in Portland and have him do a 650b conversion.
Awesome frames, punch way above their weight class.

Would be nice but the repaint needed for canti posts makes so many shy away from it. Can't blame them. If you don't care about the looks that's another thing. That being said, for anyone reading, these can fit wider tires than many touring bikes of the era as is.

I have an 85, which as far as I know is identical except for mine has horizontal dropouts. I slid a set of 650b in mine and it handled 42's but not 45's. It will easily take Pasela Protite 700x38c but those tires only measure a bit more than 35 on the rims I have. What did you end up with on Schwinnderella?

Edit to add-My Voyageur rides quite comfortably on the Paselas though I am considering moving it back to the original 27" wheelset just because.

Yeah, can fit 35s with fenders and ~38-40 without on my 86.

Gugie- who is seated across the room from me- says he did not dimple the chainstays on Schwinderella.
I know I put 44mm Compass tires on Velocity A23 rims on that bike.
BUT it’s possible that the A23’s resulted in a tire that was actually somewhat smaller than the nominal 44mm size.
I’ll check my files at home when I return.
