WTB: Tall 80s MTB for restoration
Just finished a 1981 Trek 613 so I'm on the hunt for the next project. I'm looking for a unrestored early production MTB (1984-88). Something with bullmoose bars and early Shimano or Sun-Tour, one-inch quill era. I'm not fixed on one brand or model but I would love to work on an early Cannondale or Raleigh Mountain Tour especially. I'm planning to do a period restoration rather than a modern city bike rebuild so the more original the better.
I'm only interested in what would have been the tallest frame offered (21.5-24 depending on the brand) at the time.
Happy to do a cash deal but I also have some cool stuff to trade (a couple interesting 25-inch road frames and parts, smaller mtb frames and parts, some cool newer alt-bars, etc.). Reach out if you have anything sitting around!

I have a nearly all original Specialized stump jumper comp from '85 in the largest size. Has deore parts and bio space. Only tires have been changed.
Not !00% sure of date, but close. 18 speed. If interested, I'll take pictures.

I have a late 80's Miyata - think it's a RidgeRunner or TerraRunner, but unsure. Black, U-brake mounts. 23" ST, 23" TT. Just has BB, headset, stem. PM for pics if you are interested!

I have an elevated chainstay Nishiki Alien that I think is 23". I'd have to go measure it and take pictures. Semi original mix of 7spd XT, DX and some slightly later LX. Plan was to go full XT with push/push under bar shifters, currently has thumbies.
