I have 1 orphan Sugino wingnut that is 9.5 (I think). It is yours for free if you like.

I have a few kicking around, mainly Huret but a few that are "no-names".
Since I don't have axles that are marked with threading it would help me (and others with same 'problem') if you could name some examples of the commonplace brands that have these specs, unless "they ALL do that"!

It is hard to say which brands have the threading I need. I am new to the wingnut thing, but what I am finding is a lot of them were 26tpi even if they were metric size. I have seen Huret and Algi listings on fleaBay. A lot of the listings have no threading mentioned or are 26tpi. If it helps, the hubs are FB Brevete marked Made in Italy and have 1.0mm threading.

Thanks for the offer. But finding a match is likely difficult.

I'll have a look at my stash. Lot's of oddballs, they're always been a trial and error exercise for me. I'll try the tap thing.

Here’s what I have in my stash:

Both sets in the 2nd and 3rd rows fit a Normandy solid axle front hub. The top row set is for a rear hub, but didn’t fit the two no-name solid axles I had in my stash. Take whatever you want for the cost of mailing.

@nlerner i want second dibs on whatever wingnuts you have, same 8 and 9.5! I am in need as well! Didn't even think to put a classified ad out, even though I've got the membership.

I have these:
left column: 2 marked Sugino, one Compe
All are OK for a Rigida 27" rear wheel;
middle: one marked H, one marked Compe.
Both ok on that rear wheel;
Right column: three marked H, two marked Marcel Luxe
Smaller than the other on left, probably for a front wheel, I don't have one, so not checked.

Now I know it is a roll of the dice, but 9 times out of 10, when I buy from ebay.fr, stuff comes with French threads. There is a ton of papillon to choose from on ebay.fr. Odds are pretty good, why not roll for something that fits the right vibe you want?

At the moment, I have engaged nlerner for a set of what he has to offer. But I think scarlson might be interested. Thanks.

I have been looking on there. But the seller of the papillion I have been drawn to is not responding to my inquiries as to shipping to the US. There is no real hurry on this project. i have had the frame for several years. It may be a few years before I get to do the project. With me being retired, I am not being as liberal with my hobby spending. I may yet go ebay.fr if what Neal has to offer does not work or some absolutely perfect papillion appear.

I got here second, so I'll take what you don't need! I'm really not picky at all - just need something that will work for my "kitchen sink" '50s French cheapo rando build, for which I forgot the wing nuts. I think they are 8mm in front and 9.5 in back, same as yours.
