FS 1983 Lotus Legend 56 cm
SOLD! Asking $400 plus actual shipping. Located in 93635, will deliver in a reasonable radius in CA. EDIT $200 F/F. open to offers.
I bought this bike because I thought it was so well preserved, and it was a Japanese frame made with full Columbus SL tubing. The Oxide Green paint looks great with few small chips. the Chrome socks on forks and stays is excellent. It is a little large for me so I thought I may as well thin the herd a little. When I bought it, the drive train was Huret-Sachs Rival Aria 7000, so I converted it back to the Suntour Cyclone II it should have come with, including the Symmetric top mount shifters . All of the bits are period Japanese; Nitto bars, Dia Compe aero brake levers, SR crank, Shimano 600 headset, Suntour Superbe brakes and hubs, Araya rims. the whole bike ahs been gone through, and all bearings re-packed. Stem and seat post adjust easily. I put on new Conti 4 season tires I had laying around that I would probably never need again (23 in back and 25 in front). I also put on new Cool Stop salmon Suntour Superbe brake pads in the original holders. the seat has a small tear / abrasion on the NDS nose, and the bar tape is 6 of 10 condition. This is a great 1980's sports touring bike. I would never sell if it was a 54cm.

Beautiful bike. I suspect the stem and seat placement makes it look bigger than it is.

OK, here is what I got:
TT center of seat lug to center of head tube : 58 cm
ST center of crank to center of TT : 56 CM
Head tube from (painted area between headset parts) : 17 cm
I looked for geometry information, but I didn't find any anywhere.

The super cool factor is the Japanese builder using the Columbus SL. Green is a lovely color too. They hit home runs with their color choices.

I agree! I also find the Japanese made frames using Columbus tubing and Campagnolo dropouts fascinating.
I have a Columbus/Campy ‘84 Lotus Legend Compe sitting unbuilt in the garage. This one was Campy Gran Sport equipped minus the seat post & cockpit (Four’sir)

Is your Lotus Legend still unsold? If so, would you be willing to ship to New York? Understood if the answer is no – shipping is a pain. Also, apologies for the relying to the public thread, but I am new to the forum and don't yet have 10 posts.
I have a similarly aged Lotus Classique (I believe) that I inherited from my father's best friend, which was a gift from the American Heart Association after he served as their chair (or so the story goes). It's been my "nice" commuter for the past 20+ years.
