1983 Trek 700 Frameset plus Tange Levin Headset
I have an awesome made in America Trek 700 frameset (56cm) that has been sitting in storage for the last 35 years. It has Reynolds 531 tubing and Shimano dropouts. This is an excellent sport-style bike with a relaxed wheelbase and would likely accept tires as wide as 32.
The frame is in overall excellent condition. Completely straight, no dents or dings, and only a few chips and scratches. There is an inch and a half strip of rust on the underside of the left rear dropout. A few of the Reynolds 531 decals are also missing. Aside from that, this frame is a time capsule ready for a full lifetime of riding.
I'm also including the Tange Levin headset. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Price:$325plus shipping $250 plus shipping. I'm based in Southern California if you would like to pick it up. (This is cross posted on the marketplace forum)

I have that bike and it easily takes 32s. It is a pleasant riding bike and was only made for that one year.. GLWS

Thanks for the comment. What's your setup on it? Did you keep it all original or did you modify?

Pedal to the medal
These are amazing frames with a true "sport-touring" geometry. If I didn't already have one and a 6xx series frame with nearly identical geometry, I'd snap it up. Can't beat those mid-eighties Trek decals either.

If I had more space I'd definitely be keeping it too. What's your setup on your 700?

1983 Trek 700
I used a more upright stem on mine. Kept stock campy hubs and 700c wheels, although I recently purchased some NOS Super Champion model 58 rims that I may swap in. Panaracer 32mm Gravel Kings. I ditched the Superbe shifters for Suntour power ratchets. Stock brakes now with Kool Stop pads. Put in an Apex 86 bcd crank and now running 36-47 front and a 14-30 six speed rear. Stock Superbe FD and a rare Superbe long cage rear. It is set up for this old guy and country sight seeing riding. Another member has one set up for fast rides.

Full 531, wonderful sport touring geometry, clamp-style downtube braze-on (which I prefer since it affords ALL options)...this is a killer bike.

Very nice, the riser stem is a good call. You're giving me ideas...

I'm a big fan of Trek sports touring geometry and this is my size. This will build up into a great bike.
