Dia Compe 983 canti brakes
SOLD! Thanks for playing. Rest assured that the money will be quickly turned over to somebody else here...
Made in Japan, super stiff, super easy to set toe on them. The straddle cables could be on the short side, included anyways. The brake levers look just like the dia Compe ones but has a different maker casting. I mean they look so like them that I was going to use them as a set. $40 plus shipping? If no interest as a group I can break the set. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8af8105d7f.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9b9b3f87a0.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0a16cf5dee.jpg |
No love for these?

In case it matters they are date stamped, 1986. The sweet spot for both touring and early mountain bikes.

Nice that you noted the levers are different while rougher looking the Dia-Compe levers are better functionally.

We have the dia compe ones on scruffy (my daughter's rigid mountain bike) and I can say that they are pretty much identical. I particularly like the thick clamping band as opposed to the skinny steel band on a lot of other brake levers. It looks a lot better.
