Redcay Frameset
As I continue to downsize, i am reluctantly selling my Redcay. I have owned this framed for a little over 5 years, without building it. Truly a beautiful frame, with expert detail as to be expected. Offset top tube cable guides, serial number K 2347038, kidney bean cutouts in seat tube lugs, fastback seat stay. Campagnolo fork and rear dropouts, this frame was repainted at some point (or possibly Jim had Cycleart (Cat2) spray his frames, I am no expert. Beautiful, deep burgundy red with flake. Fair amount of chips, absolutely no rust or dents/dings. I remember searching serial numbers for this frame years ago...and I believe this serial number shows a vitus tubing model, however I am not certain.Top tube c-c 58 cm, seat tube c-c 60 cm.Comes with headset which i am unfamiliar with. $400.00 plus shipping I think is fair.
Enjoy the pics;) https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...40d3006c7.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...84758a9b6.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d61fdeac2.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d7f27f3fa.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d65c534f2.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c47d6eaa4.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...a03b92601.jpeg |

Nice frame! That seat cluster window is a neat touch. Too large for me & not in the market, but GLWS!

Good price on this one. I'd consider it if not for just buying a Fattic frame. Good luck with the sale.

When I bought my Redcay, I was in communication with Paul Brodek (RIP). He gave me a Redcay s/n decoder. Here it is in action for my frame:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...EngbjPBF3=w600 I've no idea what the difference between type 2 and 3 frames were. As I recall, Paul didn't either. GLWS. |

serial number
Thank you all for the info. I need better pictures;) Correct on the serial number, I had found all that information which suggests the: First number is either 2 or 3...I had found that 3 was for Reynolds 531 tubing, 2 was for Vitus, the next 2 numbers were head tube and seat tube angles (3=73 degree, 4 =74 degree), next 2 digits year (70=1970), and last numbers were frame number = 38
I will try to find where I found the tubing or first number info...it was online somewhere. |

Yes, '77. I don't believe Redcay was building in 1970. The decide I got from Paul indicates the last three digits are the sequence number. The 7 is the last digit of the build year.
