I have to find my notes again from when the change occurred.
It is one of those subtle changes that just don't show unless you have two in hand and a caliper.
What got me thinking of it was the very early units had a more organic flow of surface from the material adjacent to the upper pivot and around to the link pivot pins.
"why was that?"
The parallelogram links did not change early on, but the distance from the upper pivot to the links did, and I recall the same for the lower, so the jockey cage pivot was moved further away from the rear wheel axle.

I have two virtually identical Eisentraut Limited's. One with Phil hubs and the other with Weyless hubs. The Phil's are on a 57.5 that is very clean. The Weyless on a 59 that is fairly ratty. They are both period correct builds, done before I received the bikes so I have no way of knowing if that was OEM, and I can't bring myself to sell either bike because of the unique hubs or at least the Weyless hubs. Really illogical on some level, but I don't care....

Wheels. I don't know why. All clean and built, with proper tires, trued and tensioned, free wheels installed, ready to ride.

Me too. And am continually on the lookout for any of the V series rears, as well as Spirt fronts.

I also have trouble passing on a reasonably priced rack.

Hubs, usually old, with 32/40 drillings. Several fixed or fixed free, 110 width. Then a bunch of EA1/597mm rims and tires. I resolve to built these wheels and ditch the extras, honest.

Oh, also the Suntour long cages, freewheels, triple chainsets.

Oh, also too many old frames of a very pedestrian nature.

That is just burning money :)

Now that I'm older (and the Raleigh does not even have dropout braze-ons) the temptation is much less. They say that the British left the braze-ons off the USA bound Mk IV Professionals as they thought that Americans were not much interested in a nice rack. More into baseball, they supposed.

I have three, two of them Huret, all in reasonable shape. You want them? Ride by some time and pick them up.

I was going nutso over 10 speed Campy Chorus groupsets for a while.

Had four of them. :)

Ended up using two and selling two.

Last one went on the Della Santa.

I also have an excess of vintage/sort of vintage/modern wheelsets.

I'm not sure how that happened, but that's a habit I really need to break pronto.

Add me to the SunTour collectors. V- Luxe and up rear. Some are GT, some are medium cage. I put one of my sets of first gen Cyclone on my '84 Univega. Very lightweight, and very functional.

Also SunTour shifters. I was rummaging around in the garage and came up with five barcons. Two and a half sets. That in addition to the sets already in use on my two primary rides. I must have picked up that single barcon as a source for spares. My Fuji was missing the little screw that holds the black cover on, causing it to rattle or buzz while riding. It still worked fine, but can be annoying if I thought about it. I also have a couple of sets of downtube clamp-on shifters in addition to the Symmetric I took off the '84 Univega...

I think that's the best description of what I tend to do. I don't collect anything cool or valuable or even kinky. I just accumulate spare parts for the bikes in my fleet: 7-speed rear hubs and cassettes and shifters (since I'm apparently wedded to that system), 144 BCD chainrings in sizes I don't yet have (for the FG), etc.

Perhaps if I had grown up 10-20 years earlier, I'd be collecting nice Campy RDs and displaying them in shadowboxes, too. :lol:

I have a weakness for Pelissier 2000 hubs. I definitely have more than I need, so I must be collecting.
