Help ID early 1980s Japanese Rims
These date to around 1981 +/- a year. I can clearly see Japan and the size on the more faded logo (700c), but can't make out the manufacturer on the other. There are no other stamping, etchings or markings. They are double wall and double eyelet so they are nice quality. Came on shimano 600 hubs. The rear was laced 4x 36H . Also someone gave new meaning to tied and soldiered. Any ideas on brand?

I am thinking UKAI? Just a guess based on the size of the letters, it could be 4 which might make sense.

Solved. The weird fading of the second one was throwing me, but now that I see the decal below I can just make out the AR in the first photo
EDIT: I can see it on the second one now too.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Araya red labels are all very good rims... those look like the 20A.
I have a set of these on my Kuwahara and some 1W Araya rims (semi aero) on my Garlatti.

If there are a couple of potential issues with these rims, they are 1) the minimal (semi-circular) bead hook, and 2) the joint sleeve often causing considerable "expansion" of the rim width local to the rim joint.
With regard to preventing tire blow-off, note that aged tires lack the grippy, pliable rubber at the tire beads which goes a long way toward good retention. I've had both wired and Kevlar-beaded tires blow off these rims, and both lacked any grippy rubber along the bead edge.
