Vintage Schwinn Le Tour : Need help with year made
I bought a Schwinn Le Tour from a Schwinn dealer, new, in the early 1980's..but have had no success in identifying the year it was made, based on serial number: 1E02241
Any help would be appreciated, as my internet searches have been unsuccessful.

The serial no. may indicate a May '81 frame, however a better number can be found on the headbadge, which will indicate the ordinal day and year the bike was assembled. The badge number is stamped as shown in the following example, however it can be hard to read if covered with dirt and corrosion. The bike bearing the following badge was built on Monday Jan. 26th '87:
