NYC 5 Boro...vintage

Did the 5 Boro ride in NYC today - which is 40 miles of car free travel through all 5 boroughs of NY once a year. I noticed a lot of people riding vintage steeds. I chose to ride my 64 Schwinn Varsity today...was wondering if any one else rode something old and heavy in it today?

Nice job! I wanted to ride in it this year but work got in the way. Next year I will definitely be riding in it on some vintage steel.

Rode it two(?) years ago with a friend and his sis on an '84 Centurion. Don't remember seeing many other C/V/old bikes, but that may have been a matter of where I was in the pack (towards the back). It's a great way to see the city.

It's getting pricier each year, but really - it's completely worth it, despite the occasional bottlenecks/jams here and there. I did see one Centurion from the 80's, many old Peugeots, Fuji's, Raleighs and quite a few older Schwinns. Several others of what make/model I couldn't tell. Love the 5 Boro - it was a perfect day for it.

This item is high on my bucket list. Even have a friend in Long Island who offered me her couch so I can do it without hotel costs.

Got a tour of DC by a bike messenger friend one time, that was amazing... she knew all the back doors to places like the mint and the FBI.

I saw 3 nice Serotta's and a nice red Colnago. In 2013 I rode my old 1988 DeRosa, this year I opted for different Italian steel. What a beautiful day and a great time.

Sorry Vonruden - didn't mean to be rude and not reply - I hadn't logged on. Nice bike! Perfect for the conditions of the day - it was the best weather ever for it!

DiabloScott - make it a reality, you will not be disappointed. A few jams here and there, but it's nice to just sit in the middle of the FDR for a few minutes and see things you normally would never ever see. Do it!
