Vintage Colnago Frame Identification ????
7 Attachment(s)
Good Morning,
I have this vintage colnago frame with some campy parts and was wondering if anyone could help to identify it and give suggestions on having it repainted? The two photos of the full frame were too large for the upload feature in this forum so will repost this afternoon with new photos... Thanks in advance! |
I can identify it as a Colnago. Older one as the crown indicates. Wish there were more pictures of the frame and less of the parts. Join a photo site like flickr or photobucket then copy the link and you will get bigger pictures posted.
I would not hazard a statement about repainting until I saw the frame cleaned up. It looks pretty dirty now. What does it look like cleaned up? |
I982 ish
1982 - Chain stays stamped COLNAGO on sides 1983 - Aerodynamic fork crown COLNAGO SUPER Timeline not the right decals, paint looks pretty good Originally the fork crown & the dropouts would have been chrome |
Probably a Super from '80 or so, still has the mounting holes for the chain rest.
One can assume that the chrome that would have been on the chain stays and fork is toast. Chrome is often not cheap to renew. Plenty of places to get a bike painted, location dependent unless the budget is big. One way to decide what to spend is how much would a better example be in original paint that does not need work? I think the economics of that answer will suggest do it yourself, single color wet paint or shudder, powder coat. Maybe the cost of getting the fork chrome plated could be tolerable. |
