Campy Crankset Question

My Paramount came to me equipped with a 3-spoke Gran Sport crankset. I really like the minimalist look. Am I losing anything, performance-wise, compared to a Record crankset?

It's definitely harder to find chainrings.

for full out competition they were not as stiff
for casual riding they were lighter

Not at all. I think they are really good looking actually. If the chainrings are in good shape, and you wont need a triple, rock out.

I have a GS crank arm Set, Its Chromed Steel .
Sutherlands shows 13+ companies used the 116bcd 3 arm standard.. Peugeots had a riveted together 52-36 pair , Campag also had several riveted together combinations..

So if my long-term plan is to go triple -- it is a P15 after all -- an entire crankset will be in order? Good to know. Thanks.
In the meantime yeah, I'll go ahead and rock out. :)

Just sell them to me and I'll find you a triple to replace it. Seriously these are fetching more on ebay on then NR/SR crankset from my watching. I've been searching for this crankset but not looking to pay ebay prices. I think it's one of the nicest looking vintage cranksets up there with the Herse cranksets.

I agree. Like I said, I love the minimalist aesthetic. But your offer is certainly tempting. I'll keep you in mind as I weigh the options.

If they are these, I would not mind having a set!

They are exactly those. Pictured here. They lack the GS stamp and are dated '78, IIRC.

Very cool!

Saw one of those at the Portland Or NAHBS a couple of years ago. A builder in Sisters Or, had one on his bike. I don't have a pic.

That is one slender crank arm. That crankset is... what? Looks older... and supercool.
