Schwinn Paramount PDG Series 90

Woke up at 3 am this morning, couldn't get back to sleep. Checked CL (like any good addict would) and saw a '91, red, white and blue PDG 90 that looked to be in excellent condition that had been posted around midnight. $340. Not a fire sale, but I've ridden one and that's a fair price. Texted and emailed.

Later this morning the seller informed that I was second in line, #1 was meeting him this afternoon. Contacted him a couple hours ago. Buyer never showed. I'm picking it up tonight at 9. Then I'll need to decide whether I keep it and sell my Surly Troll. Pics tomorrow.

Good move. Very rare find. The Panasonic built Paramounts are under appreciated. Series 90 is the top of their mtb line (bought a series 70 for my wife, to go with my series 7, series 5 moved on recently).

+1,000,000 No deal is complete until $$ has changed hands and you have the bike in your possession. Hopefully all went well for you.

They are nifty. I saw that add too, and hoped that a C&V'er would buy and appreciate it.

Here's mine (some winter pics).

The hunt has been on for a couple years for the matching road bike. I missed on one down in Iowa, and that was the only one I've seen in my size.

I posted that to the "are you looking for one of these" thread. Too rich for my blood, but an oh-so-pretty bike. Pre-congrats on getting it!

Probably not the best idea in posting the triumphant "look what I almost have" post.

A lot can happen between now and then.

Good luck in getting it.

A Paramount Series bike is probably most responsible for me figuring out what kind of bikes I like. I'd known that I liked old MTBs, and my High Sierra was the cat's pyjamas. I lusted after a Paramountain- the 1 year only Schwinn special order frameset. I went kind of nutty looking for one and I settled on a Paramount Series MTB. This bike made me realize that MTBs aren't all like my High Sierra.

Unfortunately, the bike I bought was damaged, but I learned a valuable lesson!

Well, picked it up last night. It's in very good shape. No scratches or rust on the frame, original parts except for saddle. We have a son's graduation party June 7, so after that I'll tear it apart, clean everything up and put it back together. Once that's done I'll post before and after pics.
