Marnati

I don't know much about this marque. Not a lot of info on the CR list although I haven't gone thru the archives.

Last week there were 2 on the auction block. One sold, there's one left, which looks pretty nice, it's a repaint. Components are all Campagnolo, some NR and some SR, yet it has long dropouts, no top tube braze ons. This would lead me to believe it's early to mid '70's.

Any info on how these stack up to some of the better known builders?

Thanks,

Kurt

You've come to the right place!

Marnati is a two generation marquee from Milan - the father was Umberto Marnati and the son, still building, is Daniele Marnati, both worked as mechanics (frame builders) for several italian teams and some frames you see under other paint were Marnati built. Daniele is a very traditional builder who does everything himself in a small shop. The taxi driver didn't know where the street was. He's a wonderful, warm person and an excellent builder. Mine is as nicely done as anything else I've come across.

I was introduced to the brand by Citoyen Dü Monde...along with slotcar55. They heled facilitate my Marnati - which I picked up in Milan. I assisted - or more accurately helped Slotcar to assist - two Marnati purchases since then. Beautiful bikes.

Slotcar55 was selling one a few months ago on the CR list, but I'm not sure if it's available...if I can find photos I'll provide.

I am holding a very nice Super Record groupset with all the fixin's for the day I find my vintage Marnati frameset.

I've missed twice when the bike account was not up to the task.

I like the Moser by Marnati frame set on eBay offer right now, I think Marnati built a number of frames for the Moser brand in '75-'76.
I like the stencil primary graphics too.
Don't need a project right now, I'm sworn off buying till I finish a few.

Thanks guys. Looks like this might be one I'll start looking for in my size.

Satbuilder...why? Order one custom, he's surprisingly affordable.

Looking for something pre-1980.

I was not familiar with this marque until I read this thread -- thanks for sharing. Looks like a great bike!

Hi All,

I am not sure if this is the best place for this post, but I am new so please bare with me.

I am working on my dad's old Marnati, and wondering if anyone here can get me more information on the bike and when it was made. I know about the Marnati father/son shop in Milan, but I can't find specifics on years and models. The serial number is #9013

These pictures should help: https://marnatiphilly.shutterfly.com/pictures/9

Thank You!
