Famolare

in about 1973-74 Famolare launched a new line of footwear known as "the wave" due to the shoe sole having a wave shape.

they had a promotion where each retailer got a bicycle done up in the company house colour of purple. a drawing was held to win the bike.

iirc bikes were of a town pattern "condorino" with something like a derailleur 3-spd drive train. does anyone remember seeing one of these machines?

do you know who produced them?

tried searching forum and online without any hits.

thanks for any information.

If nothing else, got a great saddle on it!

But...very interesting...love the colors...would guess that it rode quite abominably....

The shoe company, based in Vermont USA, uses a penny farthing for it's logo. Hence the shape.

Welcome to the forum Dick.

There are at least two models of these bicycles. The one not shown has more of a conventional diamond frame. Was unable to find an image of it for the thread.

Do not know tyre size used. If you have the old one you could post the size and readers could respond with possible sources. If wheel is bare (no tyre/tube) the rim may have a marking with its size.

Dick sends machine's wheel/tyre sizes -

The front is a 700 X 35c so he should be able to purchase tyre & tube most anywhere.

The rear is size 350A , 14 x 1 3/8, 37 - 298. This one may be a challenge. Can anyone suggest a source for him. He is located in Florida.

He appreciates any information.

I work in a bike shop part time. A customer came in the other day, and said he had 2 of these. I dont know the condition or anything about them. He said he wants to bring them in, and may sell them to me, because he isn't going g to be around forever and there just sitting in his garage. Does anyone know how many were made and what a good priceto him and me would be? Depending on condition.

Considering the rarity, value is only a guess. I'd just ask him what he wants for them and if it seems reasonable, buy one or both. A lady came into our old place with a little Flandria drop bar 20" wheel bike (500A, actually) and wanted to get it fixed up for her grandson. The estimate was too much for her so I asked her plans for it and she offered it to me for $30. I put about that much more into it in parts, and later gave it to a buddy for his little nephew.

You may want to try asking in the Appraisals forum over here: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...th-appraisals/

Can't hurt to link back to this thread inside your new post. Will also get you 1 post closer to being able to post pics (at 10 posts), which would allow for a more accurate appraisal.
