Things under the house...

Helped a friend clear some bikes from a hoarder house he bought. Some things are better off buried.

Hole in floor, all these bikes were down there

Goodness... Had a similar experience with a fellow who bought a house from a relative. Lots of rusted chains, a few seized seat posts, but some good parts and frames mixed in.

Welp. Maybe that pile is a result of him collecting everything and selling off all the good, high-end stuff. Well maybe.

It's like a horrible glimpse into my future.

Some of those look salvageable- like that Nishiki mtb.

Henry III 07-01-15 08:36 PM

I spy a Sports Tourer with a Nervar crankset. Other then that...lots of gaspipe.

curbtender 07-01-15 08:40 PM

The gent who owned the house was known as the 'silver surfer' for the way he belly scoot over the piles of stuff. Frames are rusted pretty bad but there are some good parts, mostly Suntour.

7 motorcycles (BMW 650 behind that Moto) and a civic still buried in the garage.

So what did you get for all your hard work ?

Go my shots... I left with a 26" 7sp wheel. May go back for that Nishiki.

Good grief, a Peugeot! That's the second one I've seen TODAY! The first one had four, count 'em, four wheels. How long has it been since spying a Peugeot car. I can't remember seeing one for a very, very long time. Tom and Ray pretty much nailed them - when someone called with a Peugeot problem they laughed, continuously, for 15 minutes, then repeated 'Peugeot' and laughed for another ten. The young woman driving it looked like she was either trying to avoid being seen at the wheel, or in total fear of something falling off in the next three minutes.

PS: Sorry for the thread drift.

Yeah, that's a '72 Sports Tourer in Opaque Green. I've been looking for one of those for years now, in better condition though. :)

Fahrenheit531 07-01-15 11:59 PM

Awesome. Somewhere in the future I can say "Yeah, I've maybe got a problem. But you shoulda seen this guy!"

OldsCOOL 07-02-15 03:48 AM

That Moto deserves a better ending. I wonder if this person had an account here?

I miss Tom and Ray. RIP Tom.

I say put those skeletons back in the hole and cover 'em up.

oddjob2 07-02-15 07:29 AM

Just find a beater fiberglass whirlpool spa that doesn't leak. Add fresh water (spendy in CA these days), 5 lbs of Oxalyic Acid and add bicycles. Turn on jets for an hour and inspect. Repeat if not unoxidized. :D

.
...I bought a house once from an old lady who collected cats. In retrospect, it was a mistake.:)

The premonition is making me feel guilty for considering this LX equipped Nishiki for $30

The sort of stuff I miss out on by living on a slab. :(

That's why God invented outbuildings. Get busy.

That RockHopper frame could bring a couple hundred on e-Bay if it's not trashed.
