An Old Friend - Gratuitous Bike Pics!

I just finished putting my 1992 Bridgestone RB-1 back together with a full Shimano Sante group...and thought I might share a few pictures...well..it is a good excuse to share them!

Very nice ... love that colour ...

Trick fall 07-20-15 06:43 PM

Excellent color and I love the Sante group with it.

Always liked the paint job.

seedsbelize 07-20-15 07:52 PM

Love those Santé hubs. Pretty bike.

Steve Whitlatch 07-20-15 08:16 PM

That group looks perfect on that bike. Sweet!

I had Sante on my Circuit and just did not like the way it looked. On your bike, WOW!!

nesteel 07-20-15 08:49 PM

Very good looking package, that bike is.

TickDoc 07-20-15 09:05 PM

Very handsome build!

Dave Cutter 07-20-15 09:13 PM

Beautiful. Love the bright colors. A great bike. That build has it all!

The Golden Boy 07-20-15 09:15 PM

To echo what everyone is saying- it looks like a fun, colorful bike.

Best!

That bike is certainly an eye catcher.

Thanks all...RB is a great rider as well...

I'm only saying it because I like the bike and the OP...I don't think the group looks good here. Sante is a funky aesthetic and hard to match...I've seen it work, but I think an alloy gruppo would pop a little more.

Consider me pro Sante on that bike. Looks great! It's just enough pop without being too loud.

Dag-nammit Aaron! Now you really got me looking at it...and...hmmm...the cranks DO blend into the white of the frame a good bit, particularly when I look at the "beauty" shots...but...at this point, more important to ride RB than it is to change the looks...sounds like I have a new winter project (probably going to have to have RB painted anyway)...

:)

So clean!

Love it - What about the stripes??

daf - that's gorgeous, noticed the pics of the missing decals. I have an RB-2, just replaced mine with a set from velocals. I even spec'd slightly different colors for those accent stripey things.

RobbieTunes 08-26-15 08:22 PM

Some 9-sp DA would be nice on that.

USAZorro 08-27-15 05:11 AM

Do they make white hoods for those brake levers? My stylistic sensibility (such as it is), would have the saddle match or compliment either bar tape or the hoods.

I think that a bicycle with that bold a paint scheme invites a bit more in the way of stylistic critiques than would one that has a more "everyday" look to it. It's a beautiful frame, and I would wager that it looks awesome from the cockpit (as well as riding great). :thumb:

I like the Sante stuff while holding it, I've yet to see it on a bike and think, yep... that's it!

Maybe on a black bike? :twitchy:

qcpmsame 08-27-15 05:30 AM

Very nice RB-1, you have good reason to be proud of that bicycle. Beautiful work throughout.

Those are "white" hoods...obviously slightly grey from usage...probably a more important aesthetic that works "less well" on this particular bike is the white cranks...as they "blend" into the white on the lower part of the bike. On this bike, though, more important that the aesthetics is the ride...great riding bike...and the Sante group works good!

devinfan 08-27-15 05:55 AM

Couldn't look more perfect to me. A balance of classic and surprising. I think a silver group would look boring by comparison.

Devin...thank you! From myself...and "RB" (the nickname for this bike!)...I think I actually saw RB "blush" when I read this to him! :-)

I was thinking of suggesting red or yellow chainrings, but I'm pretty sure you'd have to paint those yourself. :D

I always liked the idea of the white gruppo. Had thought it would look especially sharp on a black, white, gray or certain metallic frames. I also have been wistful that there seem to be so few of them. Have only heard good things about their performance.
