New Ciocc Build

3 Attachment(s)
Finished up the build on my new Ciocc this afternoon! :)Took it out on a 15 mile out and back this evening, holy cow is this a quick handling bike! Been riding an All City Space Horse touring rig since my Masi and got hit by a car last season and compared to the touring bike, this is like a Porsche. It's a full 10 speed Rival kit, some low-end Ritchey parts and Reynolds Shadow wheels. Not super light but fine for what I was looking for!

Nice Job!!!!

you'll get used to the handling in no time.

Love it!

Was this the frame from Nashbar?

jjames1452 07-23-15 03:44 AM

Awesome bike! Congratulations.

I am in process of my own CIOCC build with classic Campy components.
Can't wait. I have never owned an Italian bike.

Not usually a fan of Ciocc here...but...you could change my opinion with that bike. Also...not usually a fan of "modernizing" with brifters, etc...but...again...making me rethink that position!

Good job and thanks for sharing!

Yeah I think it'll be an easy adjustment!

Nope. This was an ebay find. Mid-80s Designer '84. I think it was a floor model or something b/c it's in very good shape. Very few scratches, paint still has gloss.

Thanks, I'm pretty psyched about. Rides so nice.

What model do you have? Can't wait to see it, classic Campy will make for a sweet ride for sure.

I hear you about the modernizing classic steel thing. In general I tend to agree, but I had the full kit just sitting in the basement and was able to score the frame for a reasonable price. Funny thing is, last season I rode a carbon Masi with Sram Rival on it--couldn't afford a nice steel frame--and it was nice, but not blow your mind nice. Basically the same kit on this 30 year old steel bike and it's more comfortable, more responsive, and way way nicer looking. Definitely changed my mind about putting modern parts on classic frames!

As for Ciocc, I had an 80s DeRosa Super Record about twenty years ago that I loved. I messengered on it until it was wrecked in an accident. Since then I've wanted another, but DeRosa's are just a bit out of my price range. So I just started looking at all the other Italian frames on ebay and when I spotted this one it was spot on in terms of size, price, tube set, and look. Pretty pleased with it!

Was that the BIN frame from the CA bike shop? I almost pulled the trigger on that one.

It was. I couldn't resist. Looked at a whole bunch of different frames, was real close to a Colnago for $500 but it had a ding in the seat stay that I think would've been an issue. Kept coming back to this one and I'm glad I did.

I offered a lower price but he countered and it was a little more than I could swing at the time. Glad someone on the forums snagged it!

Is it a true 56?

tonupbandit 07-23-15 07:44 PM

It's actually a 57 ST c-c, 57 TT c-c. Surprised me because I prefer a 57 but figured I could work with a 56, so I got kind of lucky.
