My new and third Eddy Merckx bicycle

I have a 7-11 tsx and a Gan merckx bike...just picked up the Kelme colored TSX a couple days ago from a nice lady in Davis who said her uncle had the bike for years and she inherited it. Now my next goal is to try and find a Merckx Kelme Jersey in a medium:)

:thumb: Great find; and my favorite E.Merckx paint scheme of all. I think I'll go that route when I finally get around to doing something about the gouged-up paint on my Merckx's downtube.

Looks like a nice bike from what I can see on my 24" monitor. Amazing condition, is that Chorus or Athena?

Seven years and you can't post a full sized picture? You're killing me.

Well, at least I am posting pics a bit better. I am still a computer idiot, especially, when posting pictures...I just take em with my little sony camera and post em. Haven't figured out how to make them full size yet. That is Chorus 8 speed. I really like that group, although those darn wheels with those cones in them !!!!! I wish someday, someone would make repop cones for those wheels because the cones always seem to get pitted and rough. Thanks for the comments.

Get this tool, it is a very small footprint program & will give you a resize option when you right click on photo(s). This will compress the photo and make the file size much smaller (mb/kb), even if you resize to the same resolution (height x width), so they will be much faster to upload & view.

Then if you upload them to a photo hosting site, (like below) you won't waste space on the bikeforums servers, and the photos will appear larger here, plus the full resolution you uploaded if anyone clicks through. Photobucket/other will show an imbed link and you can paste that link on posts here.

Photo and image hosting, free photo galleries, photo editing

I say this because damnn. I want to ogle it in detail

Are they 8 speed wheels?? You are lucky, 8 speed campagnolo wheels are orphans & rare. If you don't want to bastardize your ride with Japanese parts, try to keep them alive.

I am using 7 speed Shimano, spaced from 126 to 130mm, and it works because the spacing is the same between cogs as 8 speed campagnolo (the ergos just had a redundant click, no problem). You can't use 9/10/11 speed campag wheels as the freehub is different.

I think that you can use (someone can correct me here), an 8 speed Shimano HG-50/ other Cassette, pulled apart, with spacers from a 7 speed Shimano cassette, on a 9/10/11 speed modern Shimano hub. I don't think you'd find any 8 speed campagnolo hubs without cup/cone. Record 8 speed cassettes are still cheap & common, so I'd stick with it. 13-26 8 speed is excellent if you have a 53/52 t chainring.

Also, a set of Ventos/ Shamals/ Zondas would make it FLY on the flats.

Wow, really beautiful bike. Never ridden a Merckx but have always wanted one. Maybe in the future if I can find one like this....

Cool. Thanks for the help. Yes, 8 speed chorus. They are a bit rough when I spin the axle with my fingers, but I dont notice it at all when I'm riding the bike. The bike really rides great and it is the "century" model. From what I recall, that model is different from my other two as it has a more relaxed angles for longer distances such as centuries. I really can't tell the difference between this or my other two except that the seven eleven model uses dura ace and I believe I like the chorus better. Thanks again to all for the comments as well. and the help with the pictures. I will try to get some better quality ones in the future
