Opinions Needed - Which Bike to Divest...

OK...I am working to "thin the herd" so that I might "upscale the herd" a bit...looking at some higher end Colnago's and Masi GC's...so...I am going to eliminate at least one bike...and I am heavy in debate...

Either the 1989 Masi Team 3V...

Or the 1991 Tommaso SL-56

Both fit me well...and ride pretty good...and...the ride is about the same for each...but...I cannot decide...had the Tommaso for several years and the Masi was new to me last summer...anyone want to weigh in?

"Higher end Colnago" is a redundancy.

For the stem alone, the MASI would be my choice to leave. If you decide to keep it, put that stem out of its misery.

Since one of the bikes you are looking for a Masi GC I'd get rid of the Masi 3V.

Bill...already done...if I keep the Masi, the Campy group on the Tommaso moves over...

I'd move both and really kit out what you're bringing.

I think I'd keep the Masi- if just because "red means fast" and I'm not so preferable towards fades. But I'd keep the wheels, but move most of the rest of everything else onto it.

I might be projecting too much from how my brain works, but when I have to sell a bike to fund another, it's usually a pretty easy decision. If I'm stuck picking between two similar bikes, the truth is that I'm not that enamored with either.

Yup, I'm with KASnake. Sell both and really go to town on a Colnago.

I hear ya Aaron...but...truth is...I am somewhat stuck on the Tommaso...was just reacting to the Masi name...but...this is NOT the Masi I want...I want a Gran Criterium...so...decision has been made...

Tommaso stays!!! Masi frame/fork will be for sell...if anyone is interested, let me know...after a bit more work/pics...will put in the For Sale section (along with putting her on eBay)...

Thanks for the opinions...

Also...what helped...I took the Tommaso on a "fairwell" ride this morning...and remembered just exactly how much I liked riding that one!

Since neither appears to be my size, I don't care which one you get rid of.

Have you ridden a Colnago?

Most boring bike I've ever ridden, with the exception of early to mid 1970's and C50+ models.

I have never owned or ridden a Colnago, but I have heard that Colnago didn't actually build their own frames, but contracted it out. Is that true? If so, that might explain inconsistency in ride quality. It seems clear that small differences in frame geometry and tubing dimensions can have a significant effect on ride. It wouldn't surprise me if frames from one contractor were different (worse?) than from another. I have also heard that the early 70s Colnagos were better than later.
