If money were not a factor, which would you choose?
Your ultimate, dream, vintage frame built up with your ultimate, dream new components?
Or your ultimate dream, new, custom frame with your dream vintage components?

DiNucci with the new tubes and lugs he worked on. Fresh, up to date Campagnolo mechanical ensemble, tubulars.

Mind you, I don't know what his frames sell for now.

Airtight frame, Campy crank, delta front brake, fixed gear, Brooks Swift, bespoke lugged stem, bars? Finish it off with some Zeppelin style alum. fenders, with some 700x28 rubber.

I want one of those Moser hour record funny bikes with the giant back disc wheel the size of a trampoline. Just so I can ride it around and hear all the WTFs it receives.

my imagination isn't good enough, i could pick a dream ride, then most of the bikes you guys & girls ride will still be cooler

New custom frame and dream vintage components.

The new custom frame would look eerily like a dream vintage frame.

Singer or Herse is the Dream machine from old. Jeff Lyon or JP Weigle custom frame would be a fine way to start a modern vintage build.

I'd have Dario Pegoretti take measurements for a custom build.

Kirk stainless with fresh mechanical campy, discs, 27mm tubulars (I know, that's not one if the options).

Weigle/Ellis/MAP with gently used/NOS vintage components, cantis, fat rubber, and provisions for multi-day lightly packed riding.

Or a Pegoretti.

Colnago Master with Chris King headset,hubs and BB on modern Campagnolo Super Record, or built up on 50th anniversary with Fiamme red lable rims. Either way it would still be my dream bike.

Isn't it amazing that everyones dream bike is so different. I think its great!

Sugino Aero Mighty crank and pedals
Suntour Cyclone 2 gears
Concor Profil saddle
Nitto Crystal Blue stim and matching bars.

That probably is still my dream bike

Campagnolo will have discs (again) by 2017. Yes, they made a mechanical disc brake in the past.

Excellent, I'll start saving. For the time being, mechanical calipers (and some mech/hyd calipers) will work with the throw of campy levers - or so I've read...for what that's worth.

Shimano 685 and 785 are fantastic systems. Good luck catching them at this point.

FWIW I hope Campy puts more effort into their hydraulic disc systems than their recent effort with cantis. They were merely rebadged Tektros at 3x the price. I have a set on my AluCross and they stop fine, but so does a $25 Tektro with some Kool Stops added.

I will choose vintage every time. With Suntour open cage rds. And friction shifting with a uniglide freewheel.

This 81 Bianchi Super Leggera on Craigslist is a dream bike of mine...just don't have $4,500 to spend on it....not sure if that is even a good price. It does look pristine though:

I also have this fantasy of taking a nice 80s Columbus SLX Bianchi frame and fitting it with carbon seatpost, stem, bars, and wheels...with a Campagnolo EPS system. Yeah, I realize that will infuriate some of the purists, but I have a thing for outlaws.

I like this choice as well. It would cover a bunch of bases for me.

A Moots Routt 45 would also be nice.

So far, my two favorites have been Merckx Corsa Extra & Pinarello Montello. I think I'd take the corsa extra, first.
