It's been a long time since I picked up a bike - but I got the grail.
So it's been a long time since I have messed around with bikes - I have a bunch hanging in my garage, but the market to buy and repair has pretty much dried up. I say pretty much, because just the other day I was at a convenience store, and I noticed an incredible bicycle chained up outside. I went in to look around, and only found two old guys playing video slots. I speak a fair bit of Spanish, so I asked whose bike it was, and quickly made a deal to buy it for a crisp C note.
What did I buy? How about a 1978 Peugeot Super Competition.
I have already spent the day cleaning it up, and have some new hoods and bar tape for it.
Sadly the saddle is long gone, so I found an Ideale on ebay.
Just for reference, here is how the very short old man was riding this 58CM bike.

Nah, I just picked up three bikes: a 1992 Trek 950, a 1984 Trek 610, and a 1990ish specialized rockhopper. I'm really not looking for a bike at this point, lol. I need to fix these up first.
But I would buy a px 10 in a heartbeat if I found one I liked.

I'd be worried about the provenance of that bike.
A yard sale, CL... whatever... short hobo guy riding a really clean 40 year old bike... that sounds hot... and not in a Paris Hilton sort of way.

The hardly ridden ones with the alignment issues or the seriously curbed wheel are gimmes.
I enjoy these rescue stories, because you do see some nice bikes riding around town on occasion with the upturned bar and the sad look of hard times sort of radiating from them.
I'm a believer in the idea that a good chunk of the shiny, nicer, high end bikes get stolen at least once.
