Calaloi Mt. Bike

A neighbor gave me a Calaloi mountain bike-aluminum hard-tail with a Rok Shox "Quadra" fork-which I've never heard of. it has an LX group on it. Does anyone know anything about these bikes?

As I recall, one year the Motorola team bikes were labled Calaloi by King Eddy. Supposedly he did it to help promote cycling in Brazil. As fishy as that sounds, I know I read that...

Caloi is still in business in Brazil. Website is here, mas você precisa entender português: Bikes

Rock Shox Quadra forks have elastomers (which are usually degraded to the point where they have no elasticity, and you may have to dig them out with a screwdriver). If yours are in good shape you might be able to ride on them. Kronos spring kits are available on eBay, which are a better option for resuscitation of Quadra forks.

I looked at a Caloi MTB a while back on CL. It was way too small for me, but it struck me as being a nicely built bike. It should be a keeper.

Nice thing about Quadras is that they're pretty light! But yeah, at this late date, finding ones that still work is a shot in the dark.

Caloi bikes were somewhat available in the US in the Early-Mid '90s it seemed, pretty nice rides from I remember.
