** Need help identifying an 80's BIANCHI **
 

Hey Guys,

Newb here, been lurking a few months now and just decided bite the bullet and sign up. :D

looking for some info on this Bianchi....

what I know:

Made in Japan (sticker on frame indicates so lol)
Assembled in the 1980's
Sticker on frame reads "Classica" (So Im assuming its "Bianchi classica, but was this an entry model, higher-end, limited run???)

Haven't seen this colorway as much as the classic green/teal and my surface research hasnt been too succesfull. Id like to know the year this bike was produced, an any info/history on the model would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting that it has no shifter braze-ons, but with the "Classic" name it might be newer than first appears.

Perhaps this model took the place of their Japanese-built "Super" or "Limited" models in their product line-up?

I see a melt-forged crankset so this would seem to be a lower-tier model. If it seems heavy then it's probably built with straight-gage cr-mo or even gas-pipe.
Bianchi typically gave their middle-tier models certain features to make them look like the top models, things like Campy-look-alike calipers and even the Nuovo Record shifters/derailers on better models. Some of these look quite good and feature good racing geometry imo, yet some were gifted with too much in the way of "criterium steering geometry" imo.

As far as dating, you'll have to decide which components to trust as being most likely original, or rely on the frame serial number.

I do have a serial number, any guess as to where I can look up serials?
