One more to come tomorrow...when I can take some pictures of it...simply did not realize that I had NOT taken the pictures...but here is a tease, courtesy of Scott Cantney...

Very nice collection! Is the rear derailleur on the Superior original? If so then it may be a '77, which was also the only year the "Super-Lite" decal was applied to the seat mast. What is the 4-digit number stamped on the headbadge?
|
Beautiful bikes, I just sold a 72 Super Sport. I kept the Brooks for my Trek.

Sweet Collection! :thumb:
A red Superior followed me home yesterday. Needs a good cleaning but looks great. |

Which...as I understand it means the 260th bike of 1976...or am I wrong? |

Now, of course, I have to find a Sport Limited...everyone wish me luck!
|
Sigh... I've got to get back to my Superior project.
|
What kind of saddle is on that green one?

So shoot me a PM and we can reach a deal. There's a old thread in which my Sport Limited was discussed, ID'd and assessed my metacortex who was a great help (except he didn't buy it!) I'll try to find that link... |
I enjoyed my Super Sport but it's been benched lately in favor of something more modern with wider gears, and it might get sold.

@daf1009 if this is a collection, where is your High Sierra? :-D

|
That's the old thread alright, thanks for finding it.
Hope daf1009 needs a 22" project and will give this old girl a new home...

Here is my 1977 Flamingo Superior (named Lorelei). This weekend I was hit head-on by an extremely careless cyclist and my front wheel is toast. If anyone has a spare Araya, whole wheel or just rim, I would love to buy it. FYI, I did make about 250 of the 275 miles on her, outpacing a bunch of much younger riders on their new-fangled carbon fiber bikes...so yea for the Chrome Moly classics! I would have finished easily had I not had my bike damaged and been sent to the ER.

Super awesome bikes!
I've always loved fillet brazed frames- I love that look of the tubes flowing into each other. Thanks for posting them.

Like finer ratchets than the typical Suntour ratcheting shifter? I have a set of Sachs/Huret ratcheting shifters- those are awesome- they're shaped differently- but the action is impeccable. |
