Anybody ever get these conflicted feelings?
See a great bike on eBay, might be able to get it for a decent price, so put a bid in, but then hope you get outbid so you don't have to spend the money. When you do get outbid, kind of disappointed and wished you'd bid a little more?
Happened to me yesterday on this Battaglin. I'd already worked out a plan to resell the gruppo and wheels, thus getting a nearly free frame.

Yes, I know the feeling, and that goes for components too. many times I see a pricey and rare component that I don't really need, but maybe MIGHT
need sometime in the distant future, I do a knee-jerk bid on it despite being most of the time broke......... then I hope someone else needs it more than I do and outbids me......... So far it had worked out OK for me and I usually get outbid for it and I never had to reluctantly buy/pay for something........yet....

All the time and every once in a while, I win the bid at a more than reasonable price...

That said, unless I have an immediate need for an item, other than a frame set, I don't bid. I almost did so, recently, on a Stronglight 63 Competition crank, bottom bracket and crank remover - went for less than I was willing to pay, but I did not bid. Wish I had!

that was a really nice complete original bike. why would you want to get that and part it out? i hope the person that got it rides the heck out of it as is.

Happens to me all the time, sometimes with bike stuff.

Happened to me yesterday on this Battaglin. I'd already worked out a plan to resell the gruppo and wheels, thus getting a nearly free frame.
